You’re going out for the evening – what’s the plan?

I tend to eat anything and everything, never a fussy eater, but if it was my last supper it would have to be a 12oz Rib Eye medium rare (an aristocrat, apparently), washed down with a nice glass of red, just the one! A sneaky pint of Guinness in McDaid’s on Harry’s Street in Dublin City Centre, often in Cork and highly recommend the Hi-B in the city, if you know Cork you have probably been here! On no account take your mobile phone out in this pub, enough to get you thrown out. Boulevard Café on Exchequer Street in Dublin do a stunning T Bone Steak, one of the best.

What are your main hobbies and interests?

Music and movies are a big hobby, collecting albums and DVDs. My CD collection is sitting presently at over 1,200 albums, DVD collection around 950; I have them specified on my household insurance policy! Godfather Trilogy would be watched on an annual basis (maybe not so much the third instalment), and now every weekend myself and my 4 year old daughter Eva stretch out on the couch watching old black & white war movies. Eclectic musical taste, from Bob Dylan to Metallica, if it’s good I’ll listen to it. The last album I listened to  was Royal Blood’s debut album, recently read Roy Keane’s updated autobiography, and the last movie I watched was Birdman (superb).

Not as sporting as before, but get out once a week for 5 a side soccer, and occasionally get out for a 4 hour walk whilst hitting a little white ball around for 18 holes, never finishing with the same ball I started with! I mostly follow Soccer (Man Utd), Rugby (Leinster & St Mary’s), and GAA (The Jacks, of course!). Cannot watch a soccer match directly after a rugby match, the physicality of a rugby game followed by athletes falling over at the slightest touch!

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

Favourite foreign destination is Italy, but don’t go enough. Rome is a great spot, great sights and great food, and Lucca in Tuscany, a fabulous town.

If you were was stuck on a desert island who would you want to be stranded with/what are the 5 essential items you couldn’t be without?

Would have to be somebody funny, I’m thinking Will Ferrell or Darragh O’Brien. Or maybe Enda Kenny – if I found a watering hole I could charge him to drink from it! 5 essentials – iPod, Samsung Galaxy Tablet, Portable DVD Player, a case of red wine… and a corkscrew!

  • No cheap slags about Leinster, St Marys and The Jacks because I am impressed Nick. You know the Hi B in Cork and etiquette associated with it. Nice one.
